Top 10 Best Magnet Fishing Finds

Thanks to mass production of neodymium magnets.  Magnet Fishing has become a fast growing sport.  Considering it’s low cost to get started, and potential rewards.  We are seeing cooler treasures every day.  In no particular order, here is our top 10 list of the best magnet fishing finds so far!

1976 Pepsi-Cola Can

Magnet Fishing Find

Coming in from Noble County, Indiana, this is a pretty cool find, especially for collectors of Americana.  Apparently, the back of the can was corroded and the face was pushed down in the mud for decades, preventing oxidation from rusting away the old label.  We know it’s from 1976 because the “Have a Pepsi Day!” promotion was ran during those years.

Class – Cool Garbage

1944 WWII German Gas Mask

Gas Mask found magnet fishing

This was lost in 1944 during WWII in the Battle of Hurtgen Forest.  The 28th Infantry Division advanced on 11/02/1944.  This battle was one of the longest and bloodiest in the war.  This type of find would make a great piece for many collectors.

Class – Collectible

Bench

Not only antiques relics have value.  Magnet fishing can bring some strange treasures.  Who couldn’t use a free bench?

Ruby Pistol

This looks like one of these Ruby Pistols, which are French styled.  It’s a great find.  I seriously doubt it will ever fire again, but what a great piece for a collection.

Military Dog-Tags

Cool to a casual magnet fisher, but priceless to a family member.  Hopefully these were returned to the soldier’s family.
I’ve actually heard of a lot of cases of someone finding dog tags while magnet fishing.  If you need help deciding what to do with lost dog tags, remember that there is almost certainly a family member of the soldier who would love to have them.  The Dept of Defense can help you find the owner’s family.  You can find more information at the American War Library’s website.

German Army Helmet Stash

Probably a mass burial.  These things are awesome and worth a fortune.

Dagger

We don’t know a lot about this dagger.  It looks old and is in pretty good shape (all things considered).

Diamond Bracelet

This one coming in from the Thames River in England.  This guy found a beautiful antique diamond bracelet and some change (yes, some coins are magnetic).

American Civil War Cannonballs &  Railroad Wheel

What could be a cooler find that a Civil War cannonball?  These things belong in a museum, not in the bottom of a lake!
This is my favorite find out of everything I’ve seen so far.  I hope to find a relic like this while magnet fishing in the future!
